Janet Anne Swanson

Janet Anne (Carleton) Swanson passed away peacefully on November 29th at Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH.

Janet was born in Manchester, N.H. on March 18, 1935 to the late Raymond Carleton and Eva (Sanborn) Carleton.  She grew up in Manchester and was a graduate of Central High School Manchester, Class of 1953.  She worked at New England Telephone Company before starting a family and moving to Nashua, NH. Janet married her high school sweetheart Rodney Pennington Swanson on April 23, 1960 and was married for 43 years before his passing in 2003.

Janet, a woman of many talents, found joy in quilting, sewing, and baking.  Every Christmas her family and friends would look forward to her signature brioche and candy.  Janet loved to travel and explored the U.S. and abroad. She was a devoted volunteer and had a passion for helping her community.  For years, Janet was a member of the Deerfield Community Church where she made many friends and often volunteered.  After leaving Deerfield, Janet continued her passion for serving the church as a valued member of the Pilgrim Church in Brentwood, NH.

Janet was the loving mother of 3 sons: Brian Swanson and his husband David Morris of Mount Dora, Fl, Scott Swanson and late wife Christina Bydalek-Swanson of Mount Dora Fl, Gary Swanson and his wife Heather Swanson of Newmarket, NH.  Janet was a beloved grandmother to Melkato Swanson of Newmarket, NH and Michelle Bydalek of Mount Dora, Fl. She was predeceased by her brother Richard Carleton and sister Ruth (Carleton) Wheeler.

The family expresses gratitude to Rockingham County Nursing Home for their compassionate care during her last days.  In honoring Janet's wishes, a private service will be held. Donations in her memory may be made to The Pilgrim Church of Brentwood, NH.
