Jon Kent Messamore, 82, of Bedford, NH passed away on January 15, 2022, from COVID-19 complications at Elliot Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Kent was born on September 25, 1939, in Frederick, OK, the son of Oscar Messamore and Ila LeNeve (Dickenson) Messamore.
Kent earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics from Oklahoma University. Then went on to serve his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force, working as a Radar Specialist during the Cold War. He worked for 44 years in the computer industry prior to 10-year career teaching digital photography at Manchester Community College.
Photography was a great passion of Kent’s. He taught classes at New England Camera Club Consortium and won awards from the Manchester Camera Club as well as the New England Camera Club Consortium. Along with his passion for photography, Kent loved watching Oklahoma University sports, was a backyard bird enthusiast and spent the rest of his free time researching genealogy for over 50 years. He was working on his fourth genealogy book before his passing.
Kent will be fondly remembered by all who knew him as a kind and generous man who enjoyed spending time with his family and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He will be greatly missed.
Kent is survived by his loving wife Regine Agnes (Gaudet) Messamore, his daughter Tisha (Messamore) Taylor and her husband James, his son Wade Messamore and his wife Crystal (Epstein) Messamore, and his 13 grandchildren: Brynna, Maeve, Jason, Ronan, Molleigh, Evan, Callie, Nolan, Norah, Dustin, Sophia, Phoebe and Madeline. He will also be greatly missed by his two sisters; Frances Nell (Ansel) Stalnaker of Destin, Florida and Ila Kay (Messamore) Littlepage of Montgomery, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his sister Carol Jane (Ansel) Hutto of Aiken, South Carolina.
A calling hour will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Durning, Bykowski & Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester Street (Corner of Beech St and Manchester St), Manchester, NH. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home, officiated by the North Ridge Church of Windham. Burial will take place in the spring.
