It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman Gilbert Vaillancourt, a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a proud Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He left us on January 21, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Norman Gilbert Vaillancourt was born on September 23, 1946 in Lewiston, Maine to Charles Vaillancourt and Armandine (Caron) Vaillancourt. Norm enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he served on the USS Castor (AKS-1). After returning from his service in Vietnam, Norm served as an Army Reservist with the 619th Transportation Company in Auburn, Maine. Norm worked as an Auburn (Maine) Police Officer and 911 Dispatcher as well as at Bath Iron Works. Also, proudly being a saxophonist with the Auburn (Maine) Community Band.
He is survived by Claire (Goupil) Vaillancourt, whom he married on March 6, 1971, and together they built a life filled with memories. Norm is also survived by his daughter, Patti V. Liamos, of Milford, New Hampshire, and his son, Peter N. Vaillancourt, of Portland, Maine, four grandchildren, Nikolas Liamos, Christian Liamos, Olivia Liamos, and Harley Vaillancourt, and his brothers, Donald Vaillancourt and his wife, Ginette, and Gerald Vaillancourt and his wife, Beverly, and his sister, Judy Vaillancourt as well as many other beloved family members and friends.
