Sister Carmelita Fabian Ramos, 74, passed away on August 2, 2024, She was one of eleven children born to Florentina, a farmer and Asuncion, a housewife. Her family realized that Sister was intellectually gifted and decided to send her to a school to become a midwife. An invitation came to the school from a hospital in Holland asking for volunteers to staff their hospital with nurses. Sister Carmelita volunteered and lived in Holland for several years before migrating to Canada, where she went to school at Fort Smith, Northwest Territory, Canada. She took courses in nursing and graduated with a degree as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was offered a job at Stanton Hospital in YellowKnife working there for several years to save money to help her many nieces and nephews to immigrate to Canada and be educated in western schools. In 1991, she felt a strong desire in her heart to offer her life to God as a contemplative religious at the Monastery of the Precious Blood in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. There she served until the Monastery closed in 2017. Sister Carmelita was welcomed to continue her religious life at the Monastery in Manchester.
The Mass of Christian burial was private on Tuesday, August 6 at the Precious Blood Monastery.
