Sister Mary Celina Of The Precious Blood Monastery

Sr. Mary Celina was born into a very devote Catholic Family with two brothers and one sister. She was baptized, received her First Holy Communion and Confirmation at her parish church of St. John the Baptist in Manchester. Sister attended St. John the Baptist Grammar School and graduation from the Academy of the Presentation of Mary in Hudson, New Hampshire. Upon Graduation she returned home to her family to discern if God was calling her to a religious vocation. Sister presented herself on April 7, 1940, to the Sisters of the Precious Blood, then at 555 Union Street and was accepted as a postulant on May 13, 1940. She was clothed in the habit on April 28, 1941, and professes temporary vows on April 30, 1942, professing perpetual vows on April 30, 1945. Sister Mary Celina worked various jobs inside the cloister, especially in the kitchen and infirmary. She was elected as 2 ^nd Councillor for November 1963 to 1965 and again as Councillor in September of 1980 to 1983, once again she was elected as Councillor from September 1983 to 1989. Besides her religious family she is survived by her nieces and nephews, Celine Therrien, Louise Boucher, Suzanne Chretien, Jean Pierre Chretien, Rachel Chretien, Jeannette Croteau, Richard Chretien and Marie Wallace and sister-in-law, Tess Richard, along with multiple grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.
