Thomas “Tom” Walsh III, 81, of Loudon NH, passed away on January 27, 2023, after a long period of declining health.
Tom was born in Norwood Massachusetts on November 18, 1941, the son of Thomas C Walsh Jr. and Beth (Alger) Walsh. The family moved to Manchester, NH in 1959 where he graduated from Central High School.
For most of his career Tom was an accomplished woodworker. In 1973 he and a friend opened Compton and Chester’s Tavern in Manchester, now known as the Wild Rover.
He was one of the original signers to incorporate the NH Motorcyclists Right Organization (NHMRO) in 1975 and he worked hard for the organization for many years.
Tom was also one of the original members of the Granite State Chariots, a popular van club in its day. As well as a longtime member of the Deerhead Sportsman’s Club in Hooksett NH.
His love for wildlife must be mentioned, especially his birds. Tom was the kind of guy everyone loved, he enjoyed spending time with his family, riding one of his many toys, and he never passed up the opportunity to have a beer with friends.
Family members include his son Thomas Walsh IV of Hooksett, two daughters Tammy Houston of Miami, FL and Tiffany Lavoie and her husband Bruce of Loudon, two grandchildren Aaron Bond and Amber Lavoie: and a sister Ruth Howell of Huntsville, AL.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday February 4, 2023 at 9:30am at Durning, Bykowski & Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester St, Manchester, NH. Service to follow at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to NHMRO annual toy run.
