Timothy Russell

d. February 3, 2022

Timothy Russell, 63 of Mills River, NC passed away at his home on February 3, 2022.  He was born in Manchester NH and grew up in Bedford.  He graduated from Manchester West High School and from Seminole Community College in Florida.  Tim had several jobs during his life, and many of his jobs were very physical. He was well-liked by his coworkers and known as someone they could depend on. Tim took pride in working hard, and his philosophy was that you should treat a job like a campsite and leave everything better than the way you found it.

Tim was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in April 2019.  He was fortunate to have two years of good health to focus on what he loved to do-hiking and working in his garden.  He found peace and healing in nature, and his daily walks and time spent outdoors were an essential part of his recovery from his bout with cancer.  Tim loved reading about the Appalachian Trail and had hiked sections of the trail in Maine, New Hampshire, Georgia, and North Carolina and looked forward to completing the trail. He had a large garden, shared his vegetables with his neighbors, and frequently texted pictures of his beautiful flowers and unusual vegetables.

Tim was a quiet man but had a great sense of humor. His comments were often unexpected, well-timed, and amusing. Some of his nephews thought that he was by far “the funniest uncle.”  Tim was predeceased by his father, John Russell.  He is survived by his mother Stella Russell of Manchester, his sister Maureen Russell and her husband Greg Hill of Flagstaff, AZ, brothers Peter of Mason NH, Daniel and his wife Judy of Rutherfordton, NC and Stephen and his wife Linda Moody of Pepperell, MA.  Tim is also survived by his nephews, Jesse, Joshua, Adam, Peyton and niece Andrea, a grandnephew, Tatum and his mother Trenity and also his long time friend Annette Crump.

He was a devoted owner of two dogs Nicky and Gerber. He provided them with an excellent quality of life and compassionately cared for them as they aged and their health declined.
